POLICIES

TRYOUT CLASSES

After acceptance by the Directors of HSFA students are invited to try a class prior to signing up. If the student continues this will be considered the first class of their program. If the student does not continue, there will be no charge for the tryout class.

ADMISSION

Classes are open to persons of all ages seeking professional instruction in drawing, painting and/or sculpture whether for an avocation, vocation or in preparation to enter college as a art major. High School students and graduate applicants must first submit art work for acceptance. Only students enrolled in the College Prep Portfolio Program will receive all the services of Comprehensive College Guidance as outlined in this general HSFA catalog. All others will be considered as non program students and will receive full instruction, constructive evaluations and critiques.

It is understood that all students will make a concerted commitment regarding attendance, their individual progress and will perform to the best of their ability.

ABSENCES

For College Prep Portfolio Program and Foundation Program Students: During the 38 week period there is a potential for 190 classes of which 108 are required to complete the general program. Absences should be made up during the 38 week program. For those who are late in starting, there is the option of attending more than the normal 3 classes per week to make up for lost time.

For Non-Program Students: All absences can be made up on days other than students regular classes within the five or ten week schedule. The dates will not be extended. However, students continuing in the same schedule (without interval) will have the opportunity to make up missed classes from the prior time period during the following time period.

CANCELLATIONS

For College Prep Portfolio Program and Foundation Students: Students enrolled in the Portfolio Prep Program or the Foundation Program leaving within the second week will receive a total refund less $200. There will be no refund after the second week.

For Non-Program Students: Students enrolling for a ten week program and leaving after 2-5 weeks will be billed at the five week rate and balances would be refunded retroactively to the student. There will be no refund in the ten week program after the fifth week.

MATERIALS

ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SUPPLY ALL MATERIALS AS PER THE MATERIAL LIST. HSFA WILL SUPPLY ALL PAPER FOR DRAWING AND CLAY FOR SCULPTURE.

PAYMENT

All bills must be paid one week prior to starting classes. Students with unpaid bills will not be permitted to attend class.
