The Eric Jason Bader $8,300 Artist Scholarship supports one outstanding student who demonstrates exceptional drawing skill during a live, observational drawing session.

Eric Bader was a dynamic individual whose life bridged art, athletics, and finance. The foundation created in his memory continues his legacy by supporting young artists and athletes from underserved communities in pursuing their dreams

This award is designed to champion talent, dedication, and creative potential — helping remove the financial barriers that too often stand in the way of artistic growth. This live drawing competition celebrates creativity and skill with over $12,000 in total awards, including:

• $8,300 – EJB Emerging Artist Grand Scholarship

• $1,500 – Director’s Choice Award

• $1,200 – Excellence in Drawing Award

• $1,000 – Creative Achievement Award

• $800 – Promise in Art Award

How It Works

• Attend a live drawing session

• Draw from observation — all materials are supplied

• Our staff of artist-educators selects the winning works

Judging Criteria

Entries will be evaluated by our professional artists and educators.
Works will be judged on the following:

1. Technical Skill – confident drawing ability and sound understanding of proportion, line, and form

2. Use of Materials – thoughtful handling of media and effective use of the supplied materials

3. Composition & Design – balance, structure, and clarity of visual intent

4. Observation & Expression – sensitivity to the subject, individuality, and personal voice

5. Overall Impact – creativity, effort, and strength of artistic statement.
