Still Life Drawing & Painting
Alden Kisner ‘24
Learn about light, volume, depth, perspective, luminosity, and composition while drawing from observation. Students will use charcoal, pastels, or oil paint.
Figure Drawing

Work from the live model. The human form will be explored through relationship, perspective, light, shadow, and negative space.
Installation

Create a large-scale environment using mixed media. Make a statement about yourself, life, and/or the world around you.
Long Pose
Kerry Flaherty ‘05
The model will hold the same pose for 3 weeks to give students a chance to create a finished painting or sculpture study.
Painting: Navigate through the anatomy, proportion, composition, and color palette needed to create an incredible painting. We will have interactive critiques and discuss influences.
Sculpture: Create a figurative sculpture or a portrait in clay. Anatomical structure, proportion, and capturing the essence of the model will be taught individually.
