A Message from Our Director, Michael Hock
In November, my sister Lisa Hock—founder of Huntington Fine Arts and the heart of this studio—passed away. It’s impossible to put into words how much she meant to this place and to all of us. Lisa built something truly special here, and I feel incredibly honored to carry forward the dream she worked so hard to create.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit: I’m not the artist in the family. But I’ve brought in a team of talented, passionate individuals who are here to make sure Huntington Fine Arts continues to thrive. They bring fresh energy, serious expertise, and the same commitment to excellence that Lisa was known for. Together, we’re excited for what’s ahead—and we’re so grateful to have you with us as we continue this next chapter.
I'm proud to introduce two new teachers who will be helping lead the way:
Karl Bourke is a painter, printmaker, creative director, and educator. His artwork is held in both public and private collections in Europe and the U.S., and he has worked as a creative director for some of the media industry’s leading brands. Karl has taught drawing, painting, printmaking, and design at institutions across the U.S. and the U.K., and brings a dynamic blend of vision, professionalism, and artistic excellence to our studio.
Paul Johnston is a lifelong artist and veteran art educator. He’s taught studio art, architectural drawing, and computer graphics for over 50 years, including programs he helped develop at Manhasset High School. Paul has curated galleries, been featured in The New York Times, and lives and creates in a 150-year-old potato barn he renovated himself in Greenlawn.
We’re also thrilled to welcome back four Huntington Fine Arts alumni who will be interning, teaching, and supporting the studio this summer:
Aldin, a rising sophomore at the University of Southern California
Ethan, a rising junior at Vanderbilt University
Ben, a rising senior at Syracuse University
Rachel, a rising senior at Boston University
Skylar, a rising senior at the University of Michigan
Their return is a testament to the incredible community Lisa built—and the impact Huntington Fine Arts continues to have on young artists.
We can’t wait for you to meet the team. This next chapter is full of promise, and we’re honored to continue it with all of you.

“We have had the most wonderful experience with HFA. My son started taking classes his sophomore year. Through the mentorship of the instructors, his artistic ability has improved significantly over the past three years. Now, as a high school senior, he happily gets in his car and drives the 30 minutes to HFA and looks forward to his Saturdays every week. The instructors have given him enough guidance to feel supported and confident to explore other mediums. Just this year, he started sculpting. Although he was intimidated at first, the instructors really encouraged him and now this sculpture is one of his favorites. Although he will be graduating from high school soon, he plans to remain part of the HFA family for a very long time.”
